The
Milwaukee Brewers are still on the prowl for some prime rentals to add to their arsenal. Considering the fact that Chicago is frantically looking to bring it's own CC-level player. Hopefully they don't think it's in
Jack Wilson.
Eric Bedard on the other hand could be a significant upgrade for them. Milwaukee could surely use some additional help in the pen. With Mota sucking badly and Torres facing the possibility that his bubble may burst any game now, you can't help but wonder if Milwaukee would go after another closer-setup man? Another position would be center field that the Brewers may consider. With Cameron being spotty most of the season (shortened by a month), you can't help but wonder if Melvin would move up Gwynn or look elsewhere. It is key that they keep Kapler on the bench and have him do spot-starts and pinch hit. With Cameron being the most seasoned veteran in the starting line up...could the Brewers seek an additional veteran in the (center) outfield? That would be key come September when the expanded rosters come in to play.
-I would also expect Tony Gwynn to be traded by the deadline. Perhaps Seth McClung too.
-I feel that when Suppan comes back, McClung will still be the odd man out. Both he and Bush have a good bat however, so that makes it even more difficult to decide. That batting spot will be key come September-October.
-Buster Olney, the wizard, believes the
Cubs don't have the prospects to support a big-time trade for Burnett or Berdard.
Tonights line up...
2B Rickie Weeks
SS JJ Hardy
LF Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
RF Corey Hart
3B Bill Hall
CF Mike Cameron
C Jason Kendall
P CC SABATHIA
---------------------------------
-Cardinals are expecting to make
some moves.
-Journeyman Julian Taverez
signed with the Braves today. I thought he would've fared better in Milwaukee.
-I wonder who will go after
Matt Holiday? I also wonder just how effective he'll be at sea level?
