Gabe Gross was traded to the Rays for RHP Josh Butler. Decision time has come and Gross was the odd man out.....ya think? He had a relatively weak arm and couldn't hit the ball for anything. In return, we have ANOTHER right handed pitcher in Butler, who was drafted in 2006 from University of San Diego. The kid is pitching in Class-A right now, so we didn't get much in return besides freeing up some cash. He was highly touted in 2007 but came up short of expectations. The kid won't see the big leagues....mark thy words.
The Rays (my favorite American League team) was in need of some help in the outfield and for a left handed batter. No hard feelings....it was expected. So my theory of Gwynn being traded is now defunked. Too bad, we could have gotten some good relief (closer) in return.

Adios, Gross. Good riddance. I'd take an unknown guy w/potential over the guy who I know will potentially bat .200 and make me want to gouge out my eye rather than watch him play. Plus, his up-to-bat music is CHRISTIAN ROCK! "Hallelujah, praise your name" Hallelujah indeed. He's gone.
